Saturday May 12, 2012. A Benefit for the Kingston PAL, the event will be held at the Midtown Center inside the Billy Costello Gymnasium at 467 Broadway Kingston, NY. Doors open at 6pm and the 3 round fights begin at7pm. Sponsors for FIGHT NIGHT! include: Kingston Nissan, Local 17, Party Time /Save-On, Tour de Kingston, UPOK, Modells, JOED Enterprises Inc, City of Kingston and Radio Woodstock-WDST. Featured this year will be over a dozen young fighters from Kingston, Highland, Ulster, Utica, Fishkill, Taconic Hills, Margaretville and Hudson including: Dong Eon Kim, Frank Grillo, Eric Clixto, Shane Harris, Mike Black, Ryan Maisenbacher, Ernon Gonnzalez Santos, Will Gonzales Santos, Nick Piqueras, Mike Rycraft, Manny Caprotti, Sam Caprotti, Jessica Coliukos, Alyssa Gougouris,Raphael Edwards, Ismael Lebron and Jordan Vasquez. The PAL was founded by WBC Champion Billy Costello and Kingston Police Officer Aaron Fitzgerald in 2006 with a boxing gym. A weight room was added in 2008. Around that time Allen Nace joined Billy Costello in the boxing gym. Together they branched out and brought the Billy Costello School of Boxing to Fitness Unlimited on Wall Street in Kingston. There they taught boxing to members of the gym. When the gym closed in 2009 the gym members joined the PAL and started the Saturday Morning Boxing Club at the PAL. March 18 will forever be Billy Costello Day in Kingston, NY. That's what Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, and Kingston Mayor Jim Sottile said last Friday night at Kingston High School. While the occasion was a 2011 follow-up to last year Ireland-USA contest, featuring action-packed international bouts, event planners from the Kingston PAL weren't about to let the opportunity go by. The Irish Teams from Belfast Northern Ireland are returning to Kingston NY. The Cross Community Team from the Belfast Northern Ireland are boxers from both Monkstown Boxing Club and Holy Trinity Boxing Clubs . Kingston PAL trainers not only train boxers from the local Kingston NY area, they also train IBC boxers from Akumai Mexico. Nov 21st 2009 Fight Night was a huge success this evening @ The Billy Costello Gym inside the Andrew Murphy Neighborhood Center in Kingston NY. Several hundred fans were treated to an evening full of great amateur boxing matches thanks to the participation of several Boxing Clubs from throughout the Hudson Valley. |
